  • Rodrygo staring at an uncertain future
  • Alonso to make a final call on Rodrygo
  • Arsenal & Chelsea are keeping a close watch

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

With uncertainty looming over Rodrygo's long-term role at the Santiago Bernabeu, both Arsenal and Chelsea are closely keeping tabs on the developments, ready to make their move should the situation shift in their favour. Though the 23-year-old remains contracted to the Spanish giants until 2028, there has been no concrete communication from the club about his future. Rodrygo himself hasn’t demanded an exit, but clubs in England’s top flight are keeping their options open.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to AS, Madrid could be willing to part ways with the Brazilian forward if a substantial offer arrives. The ultimate decision, however, will rest with both Rodrygo and new head coach Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly scheduled to speak directly with the player soon. This conversation could be pivotal in determining whether the Brazilian continues his journey with Los Blancos or seeks a new challenge elsewhere.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Arsenal appear to be positioning itself as a frontrunner in the pursuit of Rodrygo. The Gunners have already advanced in deals for Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, and now they’ve turned their attention to Madrid. While no formal offer has been tabled, informal conversations have reportedly taken place to test the waters.

Elsewhere in London, Chelsea are equally intrigued by Rodrygo’s availability. The Stamford Bridge outfit sees him as a potential game-changer for a position that has lacked consistency and quality. Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk had initially claimed the starting role, but his recent suspension left a void. Attempts to secure Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis have faltered, with the English winger expected to return to Manchester United. While Chelsea has yet to initiate informal talks like Arsenal, those close to the situation suggest such communication is imminent.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RODRYGO?

Rodrygo, who came through the ranks at Santos before joining Madrid in 2019, has enjoyed spells of brilliance in the white shirt. However, this past season has seen his impact dwindle, sparking debates over whether now is the right time for a fresh start. The Premier League presents a tantalising prospect, both in terms of competition and financial reward. Should Real Madrid signal they are open to letting him go, interest will likely turn into concrete bids.
