The Times has now revealed that Klopp 'discussed' the possibility of bringing in Antony with Liverpool's recruitment team to replace Salah in case he left the club. However, a deal never materialised and the Ajax winger eventually completed a blockbuster £85m ($110m) transfer to Liverpool's arch-rivals Manchester United.

While Salah has maintained his world-class standards and further established himself as an Anfield hero over the last two-and-a-half seasons, Antony has managed to record just 17 goal contributions in 87 appearances for the Red Devils, and is no longer a first-team regular.
