According to <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/real-madrid-transfers-alexander-arnold-rodri-saliba-b2614040.html" target="_blank">The Independent</a>, Madrid want to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri, Liverpool right-back Alexander-Arnold, and either Arsenal defender William Saliba or Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The report adds following the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-announce-signing-superstar-kylian-mbappe-from-psg/blt023bce8229a88449" target="_blank">summer signing of Kylian Mbappe</a>, Madrid started a new era where they are willing to assert their financial power. That could see them swoop for Rodri, who is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/rodri-emerges-real-madrid-priority-transfer-target-2025-man-city-star-stalling-contract-extension-etihad-stadium/bltc2355fb8e1c43ec7" target="_blank">believed to be keen to return to his native Spain</a> eventually. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/trent-alexander-arnold-real-madrid-liverpool-homegrown-hero-too-expensive/bltb2731ba359def352" target="_blank">Alexander-Arnold was linked with Los Blancos</a> for much of the summer but a move came to nothing. However, with him out of contract in 2025, a switch to the Liga side could be a possibility.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Both Saliba, 23, and Romero, 26, have become key players in their respective north London teams; with the defensive duo currently contracted to the summer of 2027. It remains to be seen if Madrid will try to recruit one of them.
