The award is a culmination of an extraordinary year after playing a critical role in Real Madrid’s remarkable double success last season, as Los Blancos secured the La Liga title and Champions League.

Vinicius' achievement comes shortly after narrowly missing out on the Ballon d’Or in October, which was awarded to Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
