WHAT HAPPENED?
When Los Blancos faced Los Che last season, news had marred the footballing world that the Real Madrid winger was racially abused by a group of fans at the Mestalla. Valencia promptly banned the fans responsible but during a court hearing regarding the incident Vinicius' club and national teammate, Militao, revealed that he was also the target of racist abuse.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
At present, there is a court case ongoing into the matter, and as per Marca, Militao testified on Thursday to say that he was also abused. The issue continues to be a problem in Spanish football as multiple such incidents, especially with Vinicius, have been reported over the last couple of years.

Militao is currently in the final stages of his recovery after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament during the first matchday of the season for the Spanish giants. Ancelotti recently revealed that the Brazilian has started training and could soon be available for selection in the squad. A positive for the club, given the number of injuries they have suffered in defence this season.
WHAT NEXT?
The Brazilian will be unavailable for Los Blancos when they take on FC Barcelona in the Spanish Supercup final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, January 14. It is likely that Vinicius Jr will start against the Blaugrana as he looks to renew his rivalry with Ronald Araujo.
