President Cristiano Ronaldo! CR7 told ‘he would win’ vote in Portugal if Al-Nassr superstar swapped goalscoring for politics

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner enjoys hero status among his fellow Portuguese, with the all-time great having done as much as any politician when it comes to promoting the country on a global scale. Ronaldo is still going strong at 40 years of age.

His remarkable career has spanned more than two decades, with countless records and trophies being picked up along the way. He has starred for Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, while currently turning out for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo has reached 217 caps and 135 goals for Portugal, with another bid for Nations League glory about to be taken in – while also playing his way towards the 2026 World Cup. If more silverware were to be secured in 2025, then CR7’s status back home would hit even greater heights.

Conrad Harder, another teenage talent on the books at Sporting, has told Sport TV2 of facing Ronaldo when he lines up for Denmark in Nations League quarter-final action: “Sporting is extremely proud of Cristiano representing the club. But he doesn’t just make a difference here. He makes a difference all over the country and much more than I expected. If he ran for president, I think he would win.”

Ronaldo has offered no indication that he would like to get into politics whenever the day comes for him to retire. He has, however, seen presidency of a football club speculated on, with there plenty that he could offer to the game away from the field once history-making boots are hung up for the final time.
