'It's not normal' - Erling Haaland reveals true feelings on Man City's 115 FFP-charge case & potential relegation threat after signing record-breaking contract

Haaland penned a record-breaking nine-and-a-half-year contract last week as he committed the best years of his career to the Premier League champions. Despite the club being fifth in the Premier League table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, and also fighting a legal battle over their alleged 115 breaches of Financial Fair Play rules, Haaland put pen to paper, and he admits the deal is "not normal".

The Norway international has scored 22 goals in 29 games in all competitions this season and he maintains that he is confident City will avoid punishment, as he believes the club "know what they are doing". Whether that pans out, and City avoid the potential punishment of a points deduction or even relegation, remains to be seen.

Asked if he still has a "way out" if City are found guilty of breaking FFP rules, Haaland told reporters: "I haven't thought of that or anything. I'm confident that the club know what they're doing.

"In the end, I really don't think I should speak too much about this because I've [only] been here for two-and-a-half years. I'm confident that the club knows what they're doing.

"Of course it [contract length] is a bit unusual. It's not normal. That's also something I like. In the end it felt good for both parties. It was an easy choice."

City face Paris Saint-Germain in a huge Champions League tie on Wednesday evening. City are currently 24th in the league phase - the final position from which a club can qualify for the play-offs - and PSG are 26th, which means they are staring down the barrel of elimination.
