Mamelodi Sundowns sporting director Flemming Berg has detailed how they have been conducting their transfer business by rightfully identifying players who are within their reach.While the Brazilians are said to be always willing to pay big money for players, Berg says their scouts previously went for players who were not available for the Brazilians.The Dane was crediting TransferRoom, a marketplace connecting football clubs, agents and players for enhancing Sundowns' transfer activity through spot-on market intelligence.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“I think in general our scouting department previously has wasted so much time on players that in the end you find out they were not a possibility anyway,” Berg told TransferRoom as per <a href="https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/transfer-centre/no-more-time-wasting-berg-gives-insight-in-downs-transfer-activities/" target="_blank">iDiski Times.</a> “TransferRoom gives us a lot of possibilities and knowledge, so we don’t waste time. On TransferRoom, you know straight away if a player is available. “So it makes us a bit more efficient in that scouting work, but also gives us some possibilities to get into some markets that are otherwise difficult to get into.”

WHAT BERG SAID

Since his arrival at Chloorkop in April 2022, Sundowns have gone for high-profile players from overseas clubs including Marcello Allende, Abubeker Nassir, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Tshreeq Matthews and Matias Esquivel.They have also invaded the local market for the likes of Sipho Mbule, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Thapelo Maseko, Argentine midfielder Junior Mendieta, Bathusi Aubaas, Lesiba Nku, Zuko Mdunyelwa, Thembinkosi Lorch.<a href="https://www.snl24.com/soccerladuma/local/siyagobhoza/mamelodi-sundowns-sporting-director-berg-told-to-spare-no-costs-20240127">According to Soccer Laduma</a>, Berg was given a mandate by the club to get the PSL's best talent "at whatever cost."The same report suggests the Dane instructed their network of scouts to go all-out and import only the cream from abroad.
