    WHAT HAPPENED?

Sundowns were the favourites in the 2022 edition but ended up falling in the final hurdle against the Moroccan side AS FAR.

It was the first time the North African outfit was winning the continental crown and they did it against a 10-man South African champions.

In the almost-ending edition, Downs want to make amends by securing their second Women's Champions League title.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sundowns' first crown came in 2021 when they defeated Ghana's Hasaacas Ladies but fell short a year later with their dependable defender and captain Nhlapho seeing red.

This season, the five-time South African league champions won all of their Group A matches to top their pool and set a semi-final date with Far Rabat who they beat by a solitary goal to reach the final.

Sundowns will play a team they beat in the group, Sporting Casablanca, and Nhlapho believes it is possible to complete a double over the North African side.

    WHAT NHLAPHO SAID

"That final remains a bad memory. I received a red card and left my sisters alone on the field. I wasn't proud of myself," Nhlapho told the Caf's media team.

"Today, we are in a different spirit. This stadium welcomed us so well that we want to repay the spectators with a great performance."

    WHAT NEXT?

Sundowns are strong favourites to win the annual competition having not conceded any goal so far, as opposed to their opponent who have allowed five.

After losing the last edition, it is obvious Sundowns are keen to claim this season's crown and end the campaign on a high.

The South Africans are optimistic the ladies can deliver after the recent achievement of Sundowns men's team which secured the African Football League title.
