Sundowns made it to the last eight after topping Group A <a href="https://www.goal.com/lists/mamelodi-sundowns-beat-five-time-caf-champions-league-winners-tp-mazembe-to-secure-group-a-top-spot/blt479a65f45d57ded7" target="_blank">with 13 points, three more than second-placed TP Mazembe</a> who finished second.The Tanzanian champions finished second in Group B with eight points, four points behind Al Ahly who finished top.

WHAT HAPPENED?

This is the first time Yanga have reached the knockout phase of the Caf Champions League in their history.Since winning the competition in 2016, Sundowns have been reaching the latter stages but failed to get their second star. "My thoughts on the [Caf] Champions League draw, I'm not so sure yet," Mokwena said as quoted by <a href="https://www.sabcsport.com/soccer/news/rulani-mokwena-reacts-to-caf-cl-draw-against-yanga" target="_blank">SABC Sport</a>."Of course, I watched the draw but I can't tell you my immediate thoughts - because I have got to watch the opponent closely."I have watched all the opponents, all the games in the [Caf] Champions League, but I have watched as a coach not as an analyst, and now I have to switch. Fortunately, I have a Fifa [international] break coming up where my focus will just be on Yanga, I will go as far back as I possibly can."They've got a good coach in Miguel Gamondi, he was at Sundowns, a very organised team with a very good structure. So, let's see before I jump to conclusions because now I have got to focus on the next game against Maritzburg, which is a tough one," he concluded.
