The Caf Champions League quarter-finals first leg between Young Africans and Mamelodi Sundowns ended in a 0-0 draw in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.That makes <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/mokwena-picks-another-battle-with-psl-mamelodi-sundowns-coach-would-love-more-support-from-the-league-as-brazilians-battle-in-caf-champions-league/bltc6cbd4b7552e0465" target="_blank">Friday's Tshwane leg</a> a crunch affair as Masandawana would want to avoid a scoring draw while the Tanzanians are keen on causing an upset.Young Africans are trying to establish themselves as a powerful force on the continent and Makudubela feels they have enough quality to upset the Brazilians.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“I think it will be more about talking about the quality that Young Africans have,” said Makudubela as per <a href="https://farpost.co.za/2024/04/04/theyre-an-african-powerhouse-but-makudubela-on-sundowns/" target="_blank">FARPost.</a>“In every Fifa break, we have about 11 to 13 players that are reporting for national team duties to their respective countries.“We have Djigui Diarra who’s one of the greatest goalkeepers in Africa, we speak about [Khalid] Auchos leading his national team," the former Marumo Gallants star added."We can also speak about the experience and quality that we have in our team from all over the country.“And big ups to the technical team that is doing a great job with the quality of players that are within the team.“With all due respect to Mamelodi Sundowns, the powerhouse of Africa, their history speaks volumes but like the coach said we come as underdogs to showcase what we can do," he continued.“What we can promise is the determination, the same work ethic, and enthusiasm we have shown in Dar es Salaam. Nothing more, nothing less.”

WHAT MAKUDUBELA SAID

Young Africans' starting eleven is usually dominated by non-Tanzanian players and their last group game against Al Ahly saw them fielding eight foreign players, most of them being internationals from various countries.There was, however, an improvement last weekend when six Tanzanian players started.They face Masandawana who have 10 Bafana Bafana players at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament while Peter Shalulile was with Namibian at the same finals.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

There are a few hours left before Young Africans clash with Masandawana and they would be hoping they are fully ready for their opponents.This comes after an incident earlier this week when their team bus broke down on their way from OR Tambo International Airport.
