Liverpool's forgotten man loaned out AGAIN as 20-year-old ends one short-term deal with RB Salzburg to join Las Palmas in Spain

Bajcetic’s loan spell in Austria proved to be challenging, as he struggled to secure a consistent role. His stint at the club was orchestrated by former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, but it did not go as planned. Reports emerged of tensions within the Salzburg dressing room, with senior players reportedly unhappy about what they perceived as preferential treatment given to Bajcetic and Bobby Clark - another Liverpool youngster who joined the club permanently in August. With only eight starts during his time at Salzburg, Liverpool ultimately decided to recall him before arranging a new loan move.

Upon his return to Merseyside, several clubs expressed interest in signing Bajcetic on loan for the second half of the season. Real Betis, Porto, and Las Palmas were among the frontrunners, but the Spanish outfit ultimately emerged triumphant.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot had previously spoken about Bajcetic’s potential and emphasized the need for him to gain regular playing time to develop before making an Anfield return.

Slot said: "I hope it will be a big year for him because he’s a very talented player and I think he could become a very important player for us, but only if he gets playing time now. If you are that young and you’ve been out for so long, the only thing you need is playing time. He could have playing time over here, but we’ve got six or seven very good midfielders, so his playing time here will always be more limited than we expect him to play at Salzburg."

Bajcetic becomes Las Palmas’ second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of Andy Pelmard on loan from Clermont Foot. He is expected to integrate into the squad quickly and could make his debut as soon as Monday when Las Palmas face Girona. The loan spell provides a fresh opportunity for the young Spaniard to showcase his abilities and get the game time he needs before returning to Liverpool at the end of the season.
