Mary Earps won the accolade last term and the result from the three-way battle to be her successor has now been announced by the Football Association, with Russo revealed as the 2023-24 England Women's Player of the Year on Tuesday.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Russo was surprised with the news by her parents and her brother, who visited the England forward on Lionesses camp this week to hand over the award. She was also presented with the England top goal-scorer award for 2023-24, after scoring six times.
DID YOU KNOW?
Somewhat surprisingly, Russo's victory means that an Arsenal player has now won this award for the first time. James came second in the running for the accolade, which was decided by a fan vote, with two-time winner Bronze coming in third.
