La Liga giants make enquiry over Man Utd flop Antony after stunning form for Real Betis as Red Devils attempt to recoup £40m for out-of-favour Brazilian

Antony has been enjoying life in Spain with Real Betis, ever since he left Manchester United on loan in January. The Andalusian outfit will do their best to retain the Brazilian, but they might be pipped by fellow La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, who have enquired about the player for a potential summer move, according to a report from El Chiringuito.

Real Betis are eager to keep Antony beyond his current loan spell by finding a new agreement for 2025-26, but United are expected to prioritise a permanent sale, with an asking price believed to be in the region of €45–50 million (around £40m). That figure is likely to be out of reach for Betis, though Atletico have the financial muscle to meet United’s valuation and could emerge as serious contenders for the Brazilian’s signature this summer.

Antony is enjoying his time in Spain and has expressed a desire to stay at Betis, with Sporting Director Manu Fajardo confirming the club’s interest in keeping him. However, Betis are only covering a fraction of his wages and can't meet the Red Devils' asking price. His future may also depend on Betis qualifying for the Champions League. Recent reports revealed that new La Liga rules, which have been brought in line with UEFA regulations, will limit installment payments to just five seasons, which may dent Los Verdiblancos' hopes of keeping the 25-year-old.

Antony has scored six goals and recorded four assists in 19 appearances for Betis across all competitions. He scored a stunner in his side's 2-1 Conference League semi-final first leg win against Fiorentina on Thursday. Pellegrini's troops are currently in sixth position in La Liga, just one point behind fifth-placed Villarreal, as the race to qualify for the Champions League next season heats up.
