  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Despite intense competition from Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, PSG have emerged victorious in the pursuit of Kvaratskhelia’s signature, according to Fabrizio Romano. This transfer follows PSG’s failed attempt to sign Kvaratskhelia and his Napoli team-mate Victor Osimhen during the 2024 summer window. Despite coming close to a double acquisition, the deal fell through, prompting PSG to revisit their interest in Kvaratskhelia in January.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kvaratskhelia has agreed to personal terms with PSG ahead of the move. The 23-year-old winger is set to commit to a five-year contract with the Parisian club. The deal could ultimately cost PSG close to €80 million (£68m/$82m) when performance-based bonuses are factored in.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Napoli manager Antonio Conte revealed Kvaratskhelia’s desire to leave the Italian side ahead of their Serie A clash against Hellas Verona on Sunday.

"Kvara has asked to be sold. The club told me and he confirmed it," Conte informed. "I feel very disappointed because in these six months, I have put him at the centre of the project making him understand that something important could be done and I have worked with the club for the renewal, instead we are back to the beginning. Evidently, I have not been so incisive in convincing the parties to move forward together, today I find myself at a point where I have to take a step back."

    WHAT NEXT FOR KVARATSKHELIA?

Kvaratskhelia will depart Napoli having made a lasting impact. Since joining the Serie A club, he has scored 30 goals in 107 appearances, becoming a key player for the team and helping them to the 2022-23 Scudetto. For PSG, the acquisition of Kvaratskhelia is part of a broader strategy to bolster their squad with young, dynamic talent. Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, the club is focused on assembling a team capable of maintaining domestic dominance while achieving greater success in the Champions League.
