The Belgian made 10 changes to the team that went to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals where they finished third.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ngezana has been phenomenal for his Romanian outfit FCSB, commanding a place in the starting XI owing to his consistent displays. He, however, was not included in the Afcon team since Broos wanted to maintain consistency at the back.

Bruce Bvuma reclaimed his spot in Kaizer Chiefs' starting lineup just before the Afcon finals, but he was ignored by Broos.

The former Club Brugge coach has explained the reason behind his decision to have the duo in the team to play Andorra on Thursday, March 21, and Algeria five days later.

    WHAT BROOS SAID

"[Bvuma] was with us from the beginning; when I was here and then as a result of the team [changes] he didn’t play anymore for Chiefs. But now he played all the games for Chiefs so I think he deserves a chance," Broos told SABC1.

"Ngezana was for us a point of discussion for Afcon, we didn’t know very well, do we have to take him with us or not because he was playing very good Romania.

"But he was never with us and therefore I didn’t want to change for Afcon. But again, he is playing very good in Romania," he continued.

"Siyabonga is a certain age, so we have to look also for the future and I think if Ngezana can have the same level he has with his club in Romania, okay, then we are settled again for the next years."

WHAT NEXT FOR BVUMA & NGEZANA?

Bvuma will have to give his best and prove he can be a reliable backup to Ronwen Williams who has been a rock between the posts.

In the absence of the injured Mothobi Mvala, Ngezana is expected to be drafted into the starting team, and he will have no option but to show his worth.
