'He's a great man!' - Mason Greenwood welcomes potential reunion with Paul Pogba at Marseille as ex-Man Utd forward expresses desire to stay at Stade Velodrome for 'many years'

France international Pogba finds himself without a club after seeing his contract at Juventus terminated. That decision was taken as the World Cup winner continues to serve a doping ban. Said suspension has been reduced from four years to 18 months and will come to an end in March.

Pogba has been linked with clubs around the world – from the Saudi Pro League to MLS – but may be heading back to his homeland. He has expressed a desire to find Champions League football again, and could get that at Stade Velodrome in 2025-26.

Greenwood would like to see a familiar face alongside him at Marseille, telling Telefoot of links to his former Old Trafford team-mate: “He's a great man, professional, who has taken me under his wing. He's a top player. Any team in Europe would love to have him. If he came here it would be great.”

Questions have been asked of how long Greenwood will be sticking around at Marseille, given his fine form, but a man tied to a contract through to 2029 added on his future: “Stay here for many years? Of course. It's something I'd like to do, I want to win trophies here and play in the Champions League. It's a big ambition to be here, so yes.”

Greenwood has hit 13 goals for Marseille across all competitions this season, with 12 of those coming in Ligue 1 as he leads the Golden Boot race. He will be back in action on Sunday when taking in a trip to Nice.
