  • WHAT TEN HAG SAID

"I listen always to my players and I give them always opportunities to tell, if the players have a different opinion of course I will listen," Ten Hag told a press conference. "But they haven’t told me. Or maybe one or two, but it is about in general, the majority, they want to play like this - proactive, dynamic, brave, that is what they want."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United have made their worst start to a season since 1973-74 - the same season they were relegated from the English top flight - and have lost every game they have played against a team in the top half of the Premier League table. However, Ten Hag remarkably tried to claim that the squad is "progressing".

He added: "We are on a journey, a route, we know we are still in transition but we are in the right direction, you see it how we construct a team, develop it, the team is progressing, how young players coming in and you see the potential how they can contribute to a very successful Manchester United for the future."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?

The only way for Ten Hag to turn the negative tide is for his side to beat Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday. United will play host to Bournemouth three days later as the fixtures start to pile up heading into a crucial festive period, and they will need maximum points to start closing the gap on leaders Arsenal.
