  • Real Madrid beat Stuttgart 3-1
  • Endrick scored deep into stoppage time
  • Ancelotti lavished praise on the teenager
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Brazilian raised the roof of the Santiago Bernabeu after he found the net deep into stoppage time following an unhindered run from one end of the pitch to the other. Despite having Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe on either side as options, Endrick relied on his talent and unleashed a piledriver from outside the box that beat goalkeeper Alexander Nubel to create history as Real's youngest Champions League scorer.

    WHAT ANCELOTTI SAID

Ancelotti was impressed with the "courage" shown by Endrick as the Real boss told Movistar: "He has balls! Endrick had courage. It was the last move of the game. He was convinced he'd score. He went for the most difficult solution, but it went well. In these two days, he's shown himself to be brave, in every sense."

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois jokingly added: "If he missed, they [Vinicius and Mbappé] would have killed him! But if he has the confidence to shoot, he has a super powerful shot. If he scores, everyone keeps quiet! He's a boy with a lot of quality. It shows his personality."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Madrid failed to breach a resolute Stuttgart defence in the first half but just 22 seconds into the second, Mbappe scored his debut Champions League goal for the club after Rodrygo set him up. Although Deniz Undav silenced the Bernabeu in the 68th minute with an equaliser, Antonio Rudiger restored the lead with a towering header from a corner in the 83rd minute. However, it was Endrick's 95th-minute goal that stole the spotlight.

WHAT NEXT FOR ENDRICK & REAL MADRID?

Endrick might not be the first choice for Ancelotti despite his European heroics as he has a star-studded attacking line-up. However, when Los Blancos face Espanyol on Saturday evening, the Italian might keep giving him minutes to further ease him into his new surroundings.
