  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Barcelona have taken world football by storm this season as the appointment of German coach Hansi Flick has worked like elixir, with the former Bayern Munich boss leading the Catalans to a nine-point lead over Real Madrid in LaLiga and a ruthless start in the Champions League.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Flick's Barcelona side have already plundered 55 goals in 16 games in all competitions and are arguably the most in-form team in Europe.

The likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsi are shining bright for the Blaugrana, with Serbian legend Savo Milosevic claiming that they can surpass the all-conquering Barca team from the Pep Guardiola era.

  • WHAT SAVO MILOSEVIC SAID

“What I saw against Bayern and Real Madrid is a completely new football. Most people say modern, but I don’t like it, this is new worldwide. I have not yet seen such a perfect team technically and tactically that runs so much and with such intensity,” Milosevic said in an interview before Barcelona's 5-2 win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday (h/t Barca Blaugranes).

“This Barca can end up being better than Pep Guardiola’s, I really believe it because this team has one more thing, it runs a lot. This Barca doesn’t want to have the ball for having it, if you leave a gap they will massacre you.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?

Barcelona will be dreaming of stretching their lead at the top of the league even further in their next outing, although it could prove to be tougher than their recent fixtures as they'll visit the Anoeta on Sunday, November 10, to take on Real Sociedad, with second-placed Real Madrid taking on Osasuna the day before.
