Cristiano Ronaldo sends strong message to Portugal fans after goalless group stage campaign at Euro 2024 as he gears up for last-16 clash with Slovenia

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a poor start to Euro 2024, however, he has sounded out a strong message ahead of Portugal's last-16 clash against Slovenia.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had a wonderful season in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr as he finished as the top scorer in the league. However, that form has not transferred to his Euro 2024 campaign as he has only managed to secure one assist and failed to find the back of the net in the group stages of the competition. Regardless, he has sent a message on Instagram ahead of Portugal's last-16 clash against Slovenia.

    The Portuguese captain posted a series of photos of himself in national team gear on Instagram and captioned them: "Let's go Portugal!"

    A lot of questions have been raised to Roberto Martinez regarding Ronaldo's spot in the starting eleven due to his form for the country through the last two major tournaments, including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he failed to deliver and was subsequently dropped by then-boss Fernando Santos. However, Martinez has maintained that the five-time Champions League winner will not be left out.

    The former Real Madrid forward will lead the Portugal side out on Monday, July 1 when they take the field against Slovenia in the round of 16 at the Deutsche Bank Park.
