  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Al-Nassr striker remains under contract with the Saudi club, but no extension has been agreed upon yet, with his existing deal expiring on June 30. There has been speculation about finding a new employer that will facilitate his participation in the restructured Club World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the United States this summer. However, nothing concrete has emerged on that front.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has revealed that he reached out to Ronaldo’s former agent Jorge Mendes to explore the feasibility of a short-term arrangement for a transfer to the Serie A outfit. However, the response from the super agent was firm and definitive: Brazil is not on Ronaldo’s radar.

  • WHAT BITTENCOURT SAID

During an appearance on the Setor Sul podcast, Bittencourt said: "I don't have a close relationship with Jorge Mendes, but I called him. He was Ronaldo's agent his whole life, but he's not anymore. Anyway, I spoke to him to find out if there was any possibility of Ronaldo playing in the Club World Cup with us.

"He was very clear with me and said that Ronaldo was not interested in playing in Brazilian football at the moment. I told him that Fluminense has the colours of the Portuguese flag, that it would be great to play in Brazil, and it would be a dream for our fans. But you can't say that we put an offer on the table."
