'By a country mile!' - Harry Kane labelled 'worst diver' in football as ex-Premier League star claims Bayern Munich striker only 'gets away with it' because of England captain status

The prolific frontman has made a career of getting the better of opposition defences, but he stands accused of bending the rules in that pursuit at times. He is by no means the only player to slip into that category, with the Daily Mail’s ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ podcast piecing together a top five of supposed simulation masters.

Ian Ladyman compiled that list, with ex-Tottenham star Jurgen Klinsmann slotted in at five. Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo was ranked fourth, current Inter Miami striker Luis Suarez third, former Barcelona and Brazil playmaker Rivaldo second and Everton veteran Ashley Young first.

Former England and Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton was not having that, though, with the Premier League title winner saying: “I'm just going to mention two quick ones who you've left out. Scandalous how you've left them out. Bruno Fernandes. One of the worst. And the winner by a country mile, but you can't call him out because he's England captain, Harry Kane. He's the worst diver. He is a prolific diver and gets away with it week in week out - all the time. Harry Kane is a serial diver. The worst I've ever seen. Brilliant player, wonderful goalscorer, got everything, but he's a diver.”

Kane is currently showcasing his many talents at Bundesliga giants Bayern, where he is determined to bring a long wait for major silverware to a close. He is in danger of missing out on such honours in 2024, but has broken through the 30-goal barrier once again and has another shot at European Championship glory to come with England this summer.
