Club America's Henry Martín traveled to Guadalajara to see a specialist after injury raises concern

Henry Martín traveled to Guadalajara on Friday for a review of his Achilles tendonitis, an injury that has prevented him from reaching full fitness since the start of the year. América will face Atlante in a friendly at the Coapa facilities on Saturday, but Martín has been ruled out for the match. He will be evaluated to determine his availability for next week’s clash against Tigres on Matchday 13, though it is highly unlikely he will be fit in time.

The striker has struggled this season, scoring just once in nine appearances across Liga MX and the Champions Cup. He also missed América’s open training session for the media on Wednesday. While the injury is not considered serious, his availability for América’s upcoming trilogy of matches against Cruz Azul in April remains uncertain.

América is focused on securing its fourth consecutive Liga MX championship and has been holding training sessions throughout the week during the international break. Notably, players like Alejandro Zendejas, who was not included in the Nations League Finals squad by U.S. manager Mauricio Pochettino, as well as Jonathan Dos Santos, Néstor Araujo, and Cristian Calderón were seen at practice. The team, led by manager André Jardine, is being cautious with Martín's injury to avoid a long-term absence, ensuring he is fit for the final stretch of the tournament.

Henry Martín continues to establish himself as one of the top scorers in América's history. With 115 goals, he's close to surpassing Octavio Vial (152 goals) and catching up to Cuauhtémoc Blanco (153 goals), who hold the third and second spots, respectively. Luis Roberto Alves 'Zague' remains the undisputed leader with 188 goals.

Due to the FIFA break, América will play a friendly match against Atlante this Saturday at their training grounds. It is expected that the starting players who were not called up by their national teams will play for 45 minutes in this match. The club will face Tigres next Saturday at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Matchday 13 of the tournament.
