Christopher Nkunku to Arsenal?! Mikel Arteta considers shock transfer swoop to sign wantaway Chelsea star at bargain price but faces serious competition from Barcelona

The France international moved to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig in 2023. He cost £52 million ($70m) at that point, but has struggled for form and fitness throughout his time in English football - starting just nine Premier League games this season.

Nkunku has registered only 17 goals for Chelsea through 56 appearances in all competitions, with six of those efforts coming in top-flight competition. He did, however, hit 58 goals for Leipzig across the two campaigns immediately prior to his big-money move.

Arsenal, who are in the hunt for more firepower, believe that the Frenchman could be a useful addition at Emirates Stadium. According to TEAMtalk, Mikel Arteta feels that Nkunku would fit nicely into his tactical system if a switch from west to north London were to be completed.

It is claimed that Barcelona and a number of teams in the Bundesliga are also monitoring Nkunku’s situation. That is because he could be available for as little as £40m ($54m), which is considered to be a bargain for a player already proven at the highest level.

While Arsenal are tracking Nkunku, they have also held talks regarding Sporting sensation Viktor Gyokeres and Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, while Newcastle frontman Alexander Isak remains a dream addition for the Gunners.
