  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Spanish couple invited viewers into their personal world as part of Amazon’s Married To The Game Season 2 series, with cameras documenting both the everyday joys and emotional struggles of family life, including their experiences raising their son Mateo, who has autism. But one of the most distressing storylines focused on the break-in that changed how Rodriguez views safety in her own home.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Shortly after Cucurella's high-profile transfer to Chelsea from Brighton, the couple’s transition to life in west London took a dark turn. Their house was broken into, resulting in the theft of valuable possessions worth around £62,000. Among the stolen items were designer Louis Vuitton bags, but what was truly lost, according to Rodriguez, was their sense of peace and security.

  • WHAT RODRIGUEZ SAID

At a recent screening of the Amazon series, Rodriguez spoke to Mail Sport, where she discussed how the experience continues to affect her daily.

"The security is one of the things I'm more worried about," Rodriguez admitted. "It's very hard when you are not comfortable at your home. I'm scared to sleep alone with my kids, for example. So for today, the most important thing for me, I think, is the security of me and my family."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Cucurella’s transition to Chelsea wasn’t smooth, either on or off the field. Amid the upheaval in the squad and managerial changes, including the departure of Thomas Tuchel and the appointment of former Brighton boss Graham Potter, his first season at Stamford Bridge proved challenging. Cucurella found it tough to adapt, and his performances came under scrutiny.

"It was difficult," Rodriguez revealed. "The first year was very difficult because we didn't have the best year. So was very difficult for him and for me, also family, and now just the best part is we managed it, and I'm very proud. We need, sometimes, chapters like that, you know, so today I'm proud of all of it."

    WHAT NEXT FOR CUCURELLA?

Things appear to be looking up for Cucurella now. The defender has become a more consistent and trusted figure under head coach Enzo Maresca. As Chelsea prepare to face Ipswich this Sunday in the Premier League, the Spaniard will be expected to play a key role in the squad’s defensive plans.
