Chelsea agree Axel Disasi transfer! Aston Villa snap up defender in £5m loan deal after seeing off competition from Tottenham

Villa are expected to pay £5 million to secure the centre-back's services from Chelsea, The Athletic reports. Disasi had been in talks to join Tottenham earlier on Monday, but he has opted to join Unai Emery's team instead.

Disasi reached a personal agreement with Villa last week but the club reportedly turned their attention to other options as they struggled to come to an agreement with Chelsea until hours before the transfer deadline on Monday.

While Disasi has been a first-team regular in the Conference League and cup competitions, he has featured just six times in the Premier League this season as coach Enzo Maresca has preferred other options.

Disasi will be eager to be back playing regularly in the Premier League at Villa Park. Emery's side are currently eighth and three points behind Chelsea.
