Huge blow for Brazil! Ederson ruled out of Copa America 2024 after horror eye injury at Man City as Dorival Junior confirms final squad for United States tournament

Ederson suffered a fractured eye socket when he collided with defender Cristian Romero during City's recent Premier League match against Tottenham. The injury saw the shot-stopper miss his team's title-clinching final league game of the season and he will also be out of next week's FA Cup final.

The 30-year-old will now also miss the Copa America in the United States, which begins on June 20. Brazil coach Dorival Junior has now replaced Ederson in his final squad for the tournament, having called up 34-year-old Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rafael, who has never represented the Selecao at senior level.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will most likely be trusted to start in goal for Brazil throughout the Copa America. The Selecao are looking to win the Copa America title for the 10th time in their history and are drawn in Group D alongside Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica.

City star Ederson will watch on as his team take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final next weekend and will continue his recovery as his compatriots head to the United States to compete in the Copa America.
