Another Arsenal injury! Gunners sweating on Myles Lewis-Skelly's fitness as Mikel Arteta offers concerning update

Lewis-Skelly finished the clash against Villa, which Arsenal won, but the discomfort worsened during Tuesday’s training session. He could not complete the session and was subsequently left out of the squad for Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

Speaking after Arsenal’s win against Dinamo, Arteta provided an update on Lewis-Skelly’s situation, expressing uncertainty about the defender’s fitness for Saturday’s Premier League game against Wolves.

“I am not sure [if Lewis-Skelly will be fit to face Wolves on Saturday],” said Arteta.

“He jarred his knee in the game against Villa and he thought it was okay when he finished the game. The next day it wasn’t bad and then yesterday he wasn’t feeling right, and so he started the session and he wasn’t feeling good. So, we need some more tests tomorrow. Hopefully, it is nothing big, but the games are coming very fast.”

Despite the absence of Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal delivered a dominant performance against Dinamo Zagreb to secure a crucial 3-0 win in the Champions League. The victory puts the Gunners on 16 points and in third place in the league phase of the competition, with only a major swing in goal difference capable of denying them a spot in the top eight and automatic qualification to the last 16.

Arsenal’s focus now shifts to their Premier League encounter with Wolves on Saturday, where Arteta will have to decide whether to include Lewis-Skelly in the squad depending on the results of the medical assessments. Following that, the Gunners face Girona in their final Champions League group-stage match, aiming to confirm their place among Europe’s elite in the knockout rounds.
