In 2023, Barcelona undertook the job of renovating their iconic home stadium, the Spotify Camp Nou, as they looked to improve the facilities. The work is said to be costing the Catalan side close to €1.5 billion (£1.2b/$1.7b), a sum that has put a lot of load on their already weak financial status. The stadium is nearing completion, but new aerial footage has prompted rival fans to joke about there being no changes to the stadium's appearance.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Barcelona's Camp Nou may look exactly the same as it did before, however, the majority of the facilities have been renovated over the course of the last two years. The internal parts of the stadium have already been completed, while the construction of the roof is expected to take another 12 to 18 months to be finished. The Catalan side are hopeful of completing the pitch renovations by the start of next season.
WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?
Camp Nou could make a return for Barcelona's first home game of the 2025-26 season, which won't be until the third week of September after La Liga granted them permission to play their first four games away. It is expected that the third weekend of September could see Hansi Flick's side return to the iconic stadium.
