NWSL champions NJ/NY Gotham FC spent their Monday at the White House, an occasion that was one for the history books.
Gotham FC are the first NWSL team to ever visit the White House. U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the team, along with their family and friends for the celebration.
Former Gotham FC captain Ali Krieger also made a speech at the ceremony, and Biden was presented with a Gotham FC jersey.
Back in 2010, WPS champion at the time, Sky Blue FC, were the only other U.S. women's professional soccer team to visit the White House.
"In 2022, Gotham placed last in the entire league. There were doubts about turning things around, but you never gave up and you kept the faith, as my mother would say," Biden said to the group.
Gotham FC are in third place in the NWSL league standings, with an overall record of 13-4-4.
This upcoming weekend, Gotham will play Kansas City Current, the league's second place team for a major marquee match up.
