Al Nassr find themselves at a crossroads after a week that delivered both a confidence-boosting result and a significant off-pitch complication. The club's 3-0 victory over Al Diriyah in Matchday 8 of the Saudi Pro League restored some momentum after a difficult run before the international break, lifting them to 19 points and third place, level with Al Qadsiah above them. Ronaldo scored the opener in the 23rd minute, his 980th career goal according to Goal's all-time scoring tracker, with Samu Costa and Kingsley Coman adding the others.

The win mattered beyond the three points. Ronaldo had left the Portugal training camp early after a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus, who kept him on the bench throughout a 2-1 win over Norway. The forward claimed Jesus broke two separate promises regarding his playing time. His performance against Al Diriyah was a direct response to that controversy, and the Riyadh crowd gave him a strong reception throughout.

The situation has since escalated. The Portuguese Football Federation officially suspended Ronaldo and opened a disciplinary investigation, with a potential ban of between one and six months. Ronaldo himself acknowledged in a public statement that consequences were warranted, which may influence the final ruling.

Attention now turns to the AFC Champions League Elite, where Al Nassr host Neftchi Fargona on Monday 12 October, as confirmed by Goal, looking to recover after losing their opening group game 4-0 to Al Ain.
