Over this remarkable stretch, Spain have secured 24 wins and five draws.

Merino’s brace, combined with an own goal from Atanas Chernev and a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty, secured a comfortable 4-0 victory for Spain over Bulgaria. Despite resting key players such as Yamal, Morata and Nico Williams, Spain continued their dominant form. The win also preserved goalkeeper Unai Simon's unblemished record, having maintained clean sheets throughout their World Cup qualifying campaign while La Roja have netted 15 goals at the other end.

Del Bosque’s Spain side, which featured legends such as Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Ramos, began their unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory over Honduras at the 2010 World Cup.
