WHAT SANTIAGO GIMENEZ SAID
The striker went goalless in his last three Eredivisie matches, including a missed penalty in the narrow win over RKC before the international break, but he never panicked during his short goal drought.
"I felt really good today. I made some mistakes recently with the missed penalty," Gimenez told ESPN.
"But I know this happens, sometimes you go without goals for a while. You can't always score."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Gimenez has been in superb form this campaign and has already netted 16 times in 14 Eredivisie appearances to go top of the Eredivisie top scorer table.
This weekend's hat-trick was the 22-year-old's second treble of the 2023-24 season, previously taking home the match ball after a 4-0 win over arch-rivals Ajax.
DID YOU KNOW?
The prolific attacker has already surpassed last term's Eredivisie tally following his latest goalscoring exploits. He netted 15 times in 32 league outings in 2022-23.
WHAT NEXT FOR GIMENEZ?
Gimenez will be hoping to add to his tally when Feyenoord take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Rotterdam giants currently sit third in Group E with six points from four games, trailing leaders Atletico by two points.
