Ruben Amorim reveals brutal punishment Man Utd players will face for ONE bad training session

Amorim says he will not tolerate poor training and will call out bad discipline if he sees it in United training. The 40-year-old has been tasked with reviving the Red Devils' fortunes and needs to cleanse an atmosphere which was recently described as "toxic" by left-back Luke Shaw. The former Portugal international has already separated stars like Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia from the first-team squad as they have no futures at Old Trafford under his rule, while Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan having also spent time at Aston Villa on a temporary deal last season.

Raising general standards will be of utmost importance to Amorim in what will be his first full season in charge. That starts with training and shirkers will not be tolerated as United bid to improve on a dismal 2024-25 campaign, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final to Tottenham.

Amorim said to reporters in the United States: “We have rules, and the rules are not to treat the players as babies. They have sons. I treat them as a man but they have rules now. And that can change the way you train.

“If you don’t train in the right way, I have footage to show you – and I show you in front of everybody. 

“So I’m always on top. I will expect to be in one phase – that I don’t need to do anything – because they will push each other. But in the moment, if you train bad one time, I will show you the image. I will not speak with you, [I will] just speak. 

“I will show everything. So that really requires a lot of energy. But what I feel in this year is that I have more people to do that.”

United have enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season thus far, drawing their opening game with Leeds before picking up victories over West Ham and Bournemouth. Their next test comes against Everton on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia before they fly home from their tour to host Fiorentina next week.
