    WHAT HAPPENED?

Per El Chiringuito's Marcos Benito, reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have reached an agreement with Liverpool star Luis Diaz, who is said to be ready to move to Etihad Stadium on a five-year deal. The report claims that City are prepared to pay a transfer fee of £60 million (€70m/$76m) for the Colombian winger, but they have not yet spoken directly to Liverpool.

  • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

Marcos Benito said in a video on social media: "The most important movement of the summer, it is about Luis Díaz, the wide Colombian from Liverpool. They just told me that he has an agreement with Manchester City, an agreement of Luis Díaz with Manchester City, a five-season contract, City is willing to pay €70m.

"They tell me that the agreement between the player and the club is total, we will see what happens with Liverpool if he finally ends up accepting, but right now this is what comes to me. Luis Díaz has an offer from Manchester City for five seasons in exchange for €70m."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

City recently parted ways with Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, who joined Atletico Madrid for £82m (€95m). Pep Guardiola is, however, well stocked on the left wing with new signing Savinho now competing for minutes alongside Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish, and GOAL can confirm that City are denying the links with Diaz for the time being.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR LUIS DIAZ?

As it stands, Diaz will be expected to feature when Liverpool get their new Premier League season underway at newly promoted Ipswich this weekend. The 27-year-old was granted an extended break after helping Colombia reach the Copa America final but scored on his return to action for the Reds in a 4-1 friendly win over Sevilla.
