Sunday's Joint PSL Preview: SuperSport United out to humble Free State Stars, Black Leopards target Chippa United scalp

A rejuvenated SuperSport United side will battle with an improving Free State Stars side at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Matsatsantsa returned to winning ways in the league when they secured a 1-0 win over Chippa United away last weekend.

As a result, SuperSport are placed seventh on the league standings - three points behind fourth-placed Bidvest Wits, who lost to AmaZulu FC on Saturday.

A victory over Stars will see coach Kaitano Tembo's side move closer to the top four teams - two points behind log leaders, Orlando Pirates with seven matches left.

However, the three-time PSL champions will take on a Stars side who are undefeated in their last three league games having drawn 1-1 with Polokwane City at home in midweek.

Ea Lla Koto are placed 14th on the league standings - a point above the relegation play-off spot which is currently occupied by Chippa United.

Coach Nikola Kavazovic and his technical team will be keen to lead Stars to a victory which would see his side move further away from the relegation zone.

SuperSport are undefeated in their last two league games against Stars having secured a 1-0 win over Ea Lla Koto at the Goble Park Stadium earlier this season.

Meanwhile, a struggling Black Leopards side will lock horns with a wounded Chippa United side at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

Lidoda Duvha extended their winless run to five matches in the league when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Free State Stars at home last weekend.

As a result, Leopards are placed 12th on the league standings - two points above 15th-placed Chippa, but the former have two games in hand.

Coach Dylan Kerr's side will be hoping to end their winless run and move further away from the relegation zone.

Leopards will face off with a Chippa side which saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport at home last weekend.

The defeat saw the Chilli Boys remain 15th on the league standings - three points above 16th-placed Maritzburg United, who were defeated by Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Coach Clinton Larsen will be eager to mastermind a victory Leopards which would see the Chilli Boys move out of the relegation zone.

Leopards have never defeated Chippa in a league match with the two teams having played to a 2-2 draw at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium earlier this season.
