Kaizer Chiefs linked with Evans Rusike and Siphesihle Ndlovu of Maritzburg United

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly trying to sign Evans Rusike and Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg United before the transfer window closes. 

According to Phakaaathi, Amakhosi have already submitted offers for the two attacking players, but they were turned by the Team of Choice. 

The publication reports that Chiefs even tried to sweeten the proposed deal by offering Keagan Buchanan, whom Maritzburg went public about their interest in his services.  

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia recently revealed that they will no longer be pursuing Buchanan, and reports suggest that this was because of the demands Amakhosi made. 

“Chiefs have made offers for the duo and even offered (Keagan) Buchanan and other players in the deals, but Maritzburg are not budging. That is why they have now publicly renounced their interest in Buchanan because they felt Chiefs took that as an invite to also make demands,” a source told Phakaaathi.

Amakhosi have long been trying to sign Rusike without luck, and their pursuit of Ndlovu could be connected with the injury suffered by Kabelo Mahlasela earlier this month.

Rusike has already netted seven goals in 22 appearances in all competitions this season, while Ndlovu (21) has scored twice and assisted in four goals in the 19 matches that he played thus far. 

Ndlovu has scooped five man of the match awards for his efforts, sending a strong message to fellow PSL clubs that are still going to face Maritzburg United this season.  

Bobby Motaung revealed two weeks ago that the club will make a few more signings before January 31, but he played his cards very close to his chest about the players that they were targeting. 

The Soweto giants are currently assessing Kelvin Abara Obasi, but it is still unclear at this stage if the Nigerian striker has done enough to land a deal.
