Kaizer Chiefs defender Xulu now linked with Indian Super League move

Outgoing Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyanda Xulu could be lost to South African football with Atletico de Kolkata reportedly keen on his services.

The 24-year-old was named in the list of players Steve Komphela won't use for the upcoming season.

However, he hasn't been able to reach an agreement with Chiefs over the possible termination of his contract.

Xulu is also wanted by several PSL teams, including Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates, who are waiting for him to leave Amakhosi before making their move.

The former FC Rostov centre-back hasn't had a successful career since returning from Europe in 2015.

He was sidelined for the better part of last season despite being given a second chance to resurrect his career under Komphela after he was transfer-listed after a season at the club.

The KwaMashu-born player turned down an offer from an unnamed Major Soccer League (MSL) club at the start of 2017.

Xulu is still contracted to Chiefs for the next three years, and should the two parties fail to reach the said agreement, he will be expected to remain at Naturena for the foreseeable future.
