Mamelodi Sundowns players who could interest Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates

Sundowns have a squad packed to the brim with quality players and the emergence of new stars such as Neo Maema and Khuliso Mudau has created even more competition.Such is their depth of quality that the Pretoria side have been able to absorb some injuries to key players without much issue. With some of those players now fit again, and new signings still to come in the transfer window, the current squad is only going to get stronger.That could mean severely limited game time for some players. Meanwhile, with just one trophy to show between them in the last seven years, both the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, need strengthening.Here are a handful of Masandawana players who may be of interest to either Amakhosi or Bucs, and who could perhaps be tempted by the thought of a fresh start and the possibility of more game-time.

Quality in abundance, and a transfer window to come

The 31-year-old fell out of favour to an extent when he made it clear his desire to sign for Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly side. But with things quiet on that front, perhaps the temperamental yet brilliant Sirino could boost the attack force at Pirates or Chiefs. Imagine him for example with Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly, or with Thembinkosi Lorch and Deon Hotto.

Kutumela had been flying with Maritzburg United prior to joining the Brazilians, only for his progress to slow, even losing his place in the Bafana Bafana side. The ex-Pirates marksman is 28-years-old now, in his prime and has the experience to potentially thrive at either one of the Soweto sides.

Motupa is another former Pirates player who left Bucs and did well at his next club - Bidvest Wits in his case. Motupa made just four appearances last term for Sundowns and at 27, should still have a lot to offer in terms of his surging runs and goals from midfield.

Injuries kept Maboe out for a lot of last season. There is still a lot to come from this sublimely talented 27-year-old and after four seasons with Sundowns, perhaps the former Maritzburg midfield attacker could be swayed by a tempting offer from Chiefs or Pirates.

Erasmus is a bit like Maboe - he still seems part of Sundowns plans, but probably did not play as much as he would have liked to. Ex-Buccaneer Erasmus played nine league matches and scored just once. With Erwin Saavedra, Pavol Safranko, Peter Shalulile, Erasmus, Kutumela and Maboe all vying for places in attack, it's possible one of the current men could be tempted to seek more game-time elsewhere, knowing there’s an increased chance of being the focal point rather than a periphery figure. Especially if Downs sign more strikers in the coming month.
