Thirty-six and counting: Ronaldo's woeful free-kick record at major tournaments

Cristiano Ronaldo would take a goal in just about any fashion after being shut out by both Iceland and Austria in Portugal's opening two games of Euro 2016.

The Real Madrid star has particularly struggled when it comes to dead balls, however, taking his tally of free kicks without scoring at major tournaments to a remarkable 36 on Saturday night.

He also became the first Portugal player to miss a penalty at a major tournament (not including shootouts) when he hit the post in the second half.

It is hard to imagine he will not step up to the spot again if he gets the chance but Fernando Santos might have cause for concern - Ronaldo has missed four of his last five spot kicks for club and country.
