Stephen Eze lauds Lokomotiv Plovdiv teammates, fans after Ludogorets upset

Stephen Eze has praised his teammates and Lokomotiv Plovdiv’s faithful after they caused an upset to secue their first win of the season.

Filip Mihaljevic’s effort saw the visitors run away with a 1-0 victory over league champions Ludogorets on Saturday.

Having started the 2018-19 Bulgaria First League season in uninspiring manner, losing their first two games to CSKA Sofia and Slavia Sofia, Bruno Akrapovic’s charges rallied back to pick the maximum points at the Ludogorets Arena; a feat that saw them move from bottom spot to 12th in the log.

And the Nigeria international, on for the entire duration of tie, took to social media to laud the Smurfs’ effort.

“Tough 90 minutes against the Champions Ludogorets PFC and we finally came through with a 1-0 win,” Eze tweeted.

“Well done to the lads. And as always, huge thanks to the fans for their support!”

The game was the Makurdi-born centre-back's second this season after missing out on last week's embarrasing 4-2 home loss to Slavia Sofia.

Eze will hope to continue at the heart of defence for the Smurfs as they welcome Vereya to the Stadion Lokomotiv for Friday's league outing..
