Onome Ebi wins 2018 NFF Women's Player of the Year award

Onome Ebi has been crowned 2018 NFF Women's Player of the Year after edging out Shanghai's Francisca Ordega and Barcelona's Asisat Oshoala.

The 35-year-old was outstanding in 2018, helping Henan escape relegation from the Chinese Women's Super League, scoring three times in 14 outings on her debut season in the Asian nation.

She was also an important figure as Nigeria recorded a title-winning success at the 2018 African Women's Cup of Nations in Ghana.

The former FC Minsk defender continued from where she left it in 2018, starring in Thomas Dennerby's setup in six games far in 2019, scoring once.

The top prize won on Monday evening in Lagos see her become the second player to claim the accolade after last year’s maiden winner, Oshoala.​

In the other women’s categories, coach Thomas Dennerby emerged NFF Women’s Coach of the Year 2018. The Swede, who guided the Super Falcons to a African title haul in Ghana in December beat Bayelsa Queens’ Moses Aduku and Sunshine Queens’ Wemimo Matthew.​

Also, Nasarawa Amazons’ Anam Imo, who claimed the Nigeria Women’s Premier League golden boot with eight goals and MVP award was named the Young Female Player of the Year. She pipped Avaldsnes striker Rasheedat Ajibade, who won the category last year and Rivers Angels goalkeeper Chimaka Nnadozie to the award.​

Crowning the amazing ceremony for women's football saw the Super Falcons edging out the Flying Eagles and the Super Eagles to scoop the Team of the Year prize.
