Boost for Kenya as captain Victor Wanyama resumes training with Tottenham

Harambee coach Sebastien Migne has received a major boost following reports that captain Victor Wanyama has resumed training with Tottenham.

Wanyama was a doubt for the Stars’ home game against Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier set for September 8. The Kenyan suffered a recurrence of a knee injury which he picked up last summer during Spurs’ US pre-season tour.

That injury kept the midfielder out of Spurs’ first two games of the season, but the club confirmed that Wanyama has returned to training ahead of their trip to face  Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.

However, the clash against Man United will come too soon for Wanyama, whose return is a huge boost to the Mauricio Pochettino led side, who did not sign any player during the transfer window.

The availability of the skipper will be a big psychological boost to Kenya, who need a victory against the Black Stars to keep their hopes of qualifying for finals.
