Broos has managed to guide his men to the quarter-finals of this Afcon and they meet Cape Verde on Saturday.Following years of struggling to win Afcon and even qualifying for the continental competition, Bafana have come under heavy criticism with comparisons to the 1996 crop inevitable.But Broos feels his side has the opportunity to clinch the prestigious title this time around in Ivory Coast.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After eliminating Africa's top-ranked team Morocco in the Round of 16, Bafana look poised to win the elusive trophy.While they have generated so much interest in themselves, they will be trying to live up to expectations when they face Cape Verde.It will be a battle by Bafana not to be like the 2019 team that eliminated hosts Egypt from that year's Afcon tournament but went on to falter in the quarter-finals.

“I always said [support] comes with results, once you have results, the rest will come, so I think we can say now we have good results,” Broos said. as per <a href="https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/bafana-bafana/broos-on-class-of-96-as-bafana-support-grows-at-afcon/">iDiski Times.</a>&nbsp;“Secondly it’s certainly a motivation for all my players, that it’s been so long since South Africa played the semi-final or final [of Afcon], so that motivates us to do as good as the guys of ’96.&nbsp;“So it’s normal when you’re a sportsman you want to do great things and I know my players will do that if you saw the reaction in the dressing room after the game against Morocco, you can be sure they are motivated to do something special.”
