Nigeria striker Anam Imo joins Swedish Damallsvenskan side Rosengard

Swedish Damallsvenskan side Rosengard has completed the signing of Nigeria striker Anam Imo from Nasarawa Amazons on a two-year deal.

Her signing is coming on the heels of her impressive outing with the Lafia-based outfit in the 2018 Nigeria Women Premier League season.

The 18-year-old scored eight goals for Christopher Danjuma's team to emerge as the women's topflight topscorer last season.

Imo further put up a fine display as Nigeria recorded a title success at the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations in Ghana.

On Monday, she was named the 2018 Nigeria's Young Player of the Year [Female] at the Nigeria Football Federation awards in Lagos.

And the team's sports director Therese Sjogran, who confirmed the signing of the Nigerian youngster on Friday, has described Imo as an uncut diamond.

"[Imo] Anam can play both as striker and wingback," Sjogran told media.

"She is an uncut diamond and you should not expect that she goes straight into the starting line with us, but she is a very great talent."

Her arrival in Sweden increases the numbers of Nigerians playing their trade in the country's women's topflight to eight.

Others are Rita Chikwelu, Ogonna Chukwudi, Ebere Orji, Halimatu Ayinde, Osinachi Ohale, Faith Ikidi and Ngozi Okobi.

She is currently with the Super Falcons for a training camp, where they will prepare for the 2019 Women's World Cup.

Imo will aim to make an instant impact with Rosengard when they start their Swedish league campaign at Eskilstuna United on April 14.
