Sathia praises team character after 3-2 win against JDT

Felda United FC won their second consecutive match at Shah Alam Stadium, this time claiming a bigger scalp than their comeback win over PKNP FC last Sunday.

The Fighters were never behind in the entire match and didn't let their heads drop despite twice allowing Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to level the score and eventually won 3-2 through Thiago Augusto Fernandes' winner in the second half.

This was Felda's first win over JDT in five matches between the two and it left B. Sathianathan feeling rather happy that his charges became only the third team to get all three points from the Super League champions this season.

"It was important to get 3 points. We want to be in top 4. The players did their best but we were lucky as well because they had a couple of shots that hit the post. I think today JDT wasn't at their best."

"We also had our chances. I want my players to be more focus after leading because we lost a lot of possession. With the quality of players that JDT have, we were also a bit lucky. They could have taken a point today.

"We have to be very honest, they are the best team and best players. It's just that we were a bit luckier. Luckier because our players worked hard and displayed a lot of character," said Sathia after the match.

The win moved Felda to third in the league standings, three points behind Pahang but crucially, two points ahead of Kedah who are in fourth spot. With only one round of fixtures remaining, Felda are on course to achieve their target for the season.

Before that final league match against PKNS FC, Sathianathan will have to navigate a tough Malaysia Cup semi-final against Kedah and the win against JDT is the just the right tonic for him and his players to bring to that match.

"Yes, it is possible [to finish high in the league]. Just that we have to focus in our last game against PKNS. They have improved lately, so we have to be careful."

"Of course this is a morale booster but Kedah will be a different game," added Sathia.
