“Delighted, we’re buzzing, the team was brilliant and we put in a lot of effort - have some sore bodies but yeah, the team obviously getting us a five-nil lead and then to cap it off, I've managed to make a goal again so yeah, it was a bit strange,” Howard said speaking exclusively to GOAL. “It's a bit surreal, but yeah, I think they were just about to sub me off and I've stepped in and just put one in the bottom corner.”
The Wrexham keeper toyed with the idea of channeling his inner-Paul Mullin in celebrating his pair of goals, but instead credited the training they do - and his fellow goalkeepers.
“To be fair, as goalkeepers we do a lot of shooting against each other in training so, if you put me 20 yards out in front of goal, I fancy myself to hit the target at least," he said. "That's what I've tried to do, just work with goalkeepers and you never know what can happen. Obviously, this was a knockout round game.”
