    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Hollywood actor and Wrexham chief posted a series of photos on his personal Instagram account from the past 12 months, which featured a number of events such as meeting Prince Harry at an Inter Miami game in September, acting out an extreme allergic reaction on set, helping to launch Paul Mullin's autobiography and being pictured with the rest of the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' cast.

  • WHAT MCELHENNEY SAID

Speaking on his personal Instagram, which featured several photos from the year, McElhenney said: "Aside from that slight allergic reaction to the nuts, 2023 was one of the best years of my life.

"Thank you to the people and places that made it possible. My life is full of love and joy because of you. So excited for 2024. I’ll stay away from the nuts."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

McElhenney himself probably couldn't have produced a script as good as the current one for Wrexham, with the club currently sat in third place across the League Two standings in their first season back in the English Football League since 2008 after winning the National League title. It's been an enjoyable 2023 for both him and his partner in crime Ryan Reynolds, and the two men will be aiming to seal a second successive promotion in the coming months.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MCELHENNEY

While McElhenney will now be enjoying time away with family and friends to celebrate the turning of a new year, focus will quickly shift to the upcoming clash between Wrexham and Barrow on New Years Day, as the Red Dragons look to leap-frog Mansfield Town in second place.
