'Never competed in sport!' - USMNT star Weston McKennie's father fires back at 'abysmal career' criticism of Juventus midfielder after uninspiring Serie A showing against Roma

The United States international was less than impressive in Juventus' 1-0 win over AS Roma in the Serie A on Sunday which led to some fans criticising his performance in the comment section of an article written on GOAL. McKennie's uninspiring show was given a six out of 10 rating in the article. One of the users shared a harsh review of the player's ability going as far as stating that the midfielder has been 'abysmal for much of his career.'

The comments did not go down well with the Juventus player's father John who took to X and shared the screenshot of the two comments and wrote, "These individuals clearly have been let down at some point and time in their abysmal time on whatever local neighborhood pick up game. Probably never competed at any level in any sport! We forgive you."

The 25-year-old was handed a start by Massimiliano Allegri along with USMNT colleague Timothy Weah. The midfielder almost had a chance to score a second goal for his club but was denied by goalkeeper Rui Patricio. He had to be subbed off in the dying moments of the game after suffering a lower-body injury. Weah, on the other hand, had an electric presence down the right flank throughout the game.

The win over Jose Mourinho's side has helped Bianconeri reduce the gap between them and leaders Inter to two points as they sit second in the league table. They will be next seen in action in a Coppa Italia round of 16 clash against Salernitana on Thursday.
